Golf Course Superintendent

The Union City Country Club, Inc. is seeking a Golf Course Superintendent. He/She will be a strong, detail oriented team leader with business and organizational skills along with a passion for the game of golf. This is a 9-month full time, seasonal position.
Union City Country Club is a beautiful 18 hole daily fee public course situated in the hardwood region of NW Pennsylvania, south of Lake Erie and near the Canadohta Lake recreational area. From the longest tees it presents 6295 yards of golf for a par of 72 with a course rating of 69.7 and a slope of 129.

The Superintendent would be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and agronomic practices of an enjoyable and profitable golf course. The Superintendent must ensure that all natural areas of the course, from the fairways to the greens & rough, are healthy and properly maintained while being aware of the general course environment; including ponds, trees, and cart paths.

- Hires, supervises and develops all employees in the maintenance department
- Helps maintain a challenging course for players and dictates factors such as the length of rough grass, or the rotating pin placemats on greens.
- Supervises all planting, fertilizing and chemical applications, and other care of turf, plants shrubs and trees on the golf course and clubhouse surroundings.
- Communicates with the General Manager to discuss activities, goals, and plans.
- Maintains inventory and oversees all repairs and scheduled maintenance of all golf course maintenance equipment.
- Must inspect the course constantly, take soil samples, and note any abnormalities.
- Supervises maintenance and operation of drainage, irrigation and other mechanical watering systems.
- Prepares and manages an annual budget plan for the golf course maintenance operations.
- Hands on management style, excellent work etheric, team building and motivational abilities.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Special Requirements:
- Mechanical skills preferred
- PA Pesticide Applicators License preferred

Salary Range:

Educational Requirements:
Associates degree (AA) or Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Agronomy, Turf Grass Management, Horticulture or a related science preferred.

Experience Required:
2 years of golf course maintenance experience preferred
